Purpose

Are You Choosing to be Intentional or Leaving Your Legacy to Chance?

Intentionality. It’s something I talk, write, and coach about a lot. Chances are, if you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you have heard this before. So why am I writing about it again? Because primarily, I think it is an evergreen message, and secondarily it is a message that can be relearned daily.

Whether you know it or not, you are making an influence in the world. When we talk about people who make an influence or who we call an influencer, we think in grandiose terms. But the truth is, we all make a difference and have influence over other people. This week I want to coach you in writing to recognize it and to turn it more positively intentionally.

Do Your Dreams and Goals Drive Your Success or Drive You Crazy?

Recently, I got into a discussion with one of my coaching clients about the importance of setting goals. Or lack thereof. I will admit, and if you read any of my work, this will come as no surprise that I am a freak about setting goals. And time management. And time blocking. And to-do lists. You get the picture.

However, my client made a salient point, and one of my goals for this year (I’m not even kidding) is to become a better listener and be open to new perspectives. So, I listened. And I considered this new information. And then, I decided to write this blog post to determine who is right. I plan to let you know by the time you and I finish this article.

Created on Purpose for a Purpose? Why is the Best Answer

I have some very good news for you this week. I hope you can receive it not only from the purpose for which I intend it but also with an appreciation for the clarity I hope it begins to bring to your life. My friend, I am convinced beyond the shadow of a doubt that you were created for a specific purpose that only you can accomplish.

I believe that you are uniquely gifted to do something that only you can do, using only what you have at this moment, and with whatever you have experienced in your life up to this point. Whether you believe it or not (yet), I hope in the next few hundred words to convince you of this fact.

How to Make Days Count Rather than Counting Down Days

It’s hard to believe that in just over three weeks we will celebrate Christmas. Personally speaking, I have gotten to the age where I become very nostalgic around Christmas. My days of having to stay up all night to be Santa are long gone and (hopefully) I am still a good way’s off before I get to experience the magic of a grandchild on Christmas.

Therefore, I take this time of the year to remember Christmases gone by. Memories of family members who have graduated to Heaven, old traditions that have faded away with time, and having and taking the time to just drink in the wonder of the season. Call me sentimental.

Living on the Edge and Thriving in Uncertainty

Hopefully, you noticed, I took last week off. Not just from my weekly blog article but from just about everything else I do during each week. I did a lot of things I don’t like to do, have never done, and can’t wait to do again!

I’ll detail some of the highlights in the contents below, but before I do, let me challenge you with a few questions. How routine has your routine become? What things have you never tried because you said you don’t have time but what you really meant was they scare you a little bit? Finally, who can you take time to experience life in a more meaningful and significant way?

What’s Your Life Worth? Get Clarity on Your Values

Recently, a friend of mine asked me how in tune I was with my values. My immediate answer was to say, “oh, I am totally in touch with what my personal core values are.” Like a good friend, however, he pushed me and asked again, “No, really, how in touch are you with your values and committed to living according to them.”

Perhaps like me, if you are honest, that causes you to pause and really consider the question. If you are able to ask yourself “why is this important” two or three times, I believe you will get into some very important, deep connection with yourself and your intentions for living.
